SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team was defeated, 2-0, by Northeast Conference opponent Bryant University on Friday afternoon. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 1-3-0 in the NEC and 1-8-1 overall, while Bryant improves to 2-2-1 in the NEC and 4-6-1 overall.
The Bulldogs scored early in the contest when senior midfielder Norbert Guery recorded an unassisted goal in the 16thminute of play. The goal was Guery's team-leading third goal of the year.
Bryant collected its second goal in the 34thminute of play on sophomore defender Ryan Stone's second tally of the season. He was assisted by senior midfielder Jordan Martin, who, with the helper, earned his first point of the year.
Both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the game, as neither side could find an opening in the opposing defense during the second half.
Despite Quinnipiac's substantial shot advantage, 16-9, it was unable to put one past Bulldog senior goalkeeper Victor Tutuino. Tutino made seven saves on the afternoon, while Quinnipiac sophomore goalkeeper George Ellis (Greatham, England) turned away two shots.
Quinnipiac returns to action for its final non-conference game of the season on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. against New Jersey Institute of Technology at Quinnipiac Soccer Field in Hamden, Conn.
