Men's Soccer Loses, 2-1, To Robert Morris
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team was edged, 2-1, by Robert Morris at North Atlantic Complex in Moon Township, Pa. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 1-7-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the Northeast Conference. With the win, Robert Morris improves its record to 6-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the NEC.
Quinnipiac fell behind, 1-0, in the 39thminute of the first half when senior midfielder Tyler Solis one-timed a pass from freshman forward Prince Samuels by Quinnipiac's sophomore goalkeeper George Ellis (Greatham, England). Ellis collected six saves on the afternoon for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats pulled even in the 54thminute of the second half when senior forward Dwayne Mars (St. Michael, Barbados) collected a rebound that Colonials goalkeeper, Toba Bolaji, was unable to handle. Senior forward Pierre Soubrier (Aurignac, France), credited with the assist, took the free kick that caused the Bolaji bobble.
Quinnipiac was unable to hold on to the lead, as Colonials freshman Daniel Calabretta scored the game-winning goal in the 62ndminute. Calabretta controlled a pass from freshman forward Prince Samuels and junior forward David Torrance. Both players were credited with an assist on the play.
In the contest, Quinnipiac was outshot, 14-7. The Colonials also held an 11-2 corner kick advantage.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. against Bryant University at Bryant Track and Turf Complex in Smithfield, R.I.
