Men's Soccer Defeated By Providence, 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I.. - The Quinnipiac men's soccer team lost, 1-0, in a non-conference matchup against Providence College at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 0-4 on the season while Providence improves to 3-1-1 on the year.

Providence sophomore midfielder Wilder Arboleda scored the only goal of the contest in the 64th minute of play to give the Friars the victory. Arboleda received a cross from freshman midfielder Anthony Baumann and knocked in the ball from the top of the six yard box for his third goal of the season. The assist was Baumann's first on the year.

The Bobcats applied pressure in the first half, registering six shots (four shots on net), but were unable to beat Providence senior goalkeeper Jhojan Obando. Sophomore forward Philip Suprise (Milwaukee, Wis.) had three shots turned away in the half, while taking eight shots overall in the contest.

In his first start of the year, Quinnipiac sophomore goalkeeper Josh Lavallee (Upland, Calif.) made five saves on the afternoon. Obando turned away four shots for the Friars.

Quinnipiac returns to action on home turf Tuesday, Sept. 21 against the Bulldogs of Yale at 4 p.m.
