Scouting Loyola University (Md.) Greyhounds
The Greyhounds welcome Quinnipiac to Loyola with a record
of 0-1-1. Their first game of the season resulted in a 0-0 tie
against Campbell on Sept. 1. The Greyhounds lost their home opener
on Sept. 7 against William & Mary in a 3-1 defeat. This season,
Loyola will look towards its veteran leadership to continue its
strong finish in 2009. The Greyhounds return 10 seniors, eight of
which are starters, from a squad that went 11-8-3 (6-1-2) and won
the 2009 Metro Atlantic Atheletic Conference Tournament. Senior
goalkeeper Kyle Wittman, MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the
week of 8/30-9/6, leads the Greyhounds from the back. Senior
forward Phil Bannister, who in 2009 led the team with 13 assists
and was second on the team in points (21), returns as Loyola's
offensive force. He has scored the lone goal for the Greyhounds
this season.
All-Time Against The Greyhounds
Saturday's non-conference game will be the third time the
two squads have faced each other. Quinnipiac is 0-1-1 all-time
against Loyola. The last meeting between the two squads was on
Sept. 7, 2009 in which the teams tied 0-0 in a double overtime
contest.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac was defeated, 2-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 7 in West
Hartford, Conn., against the University of Hartford. The Hawks
scored two second half goals as they stifled the Bobcats offense
all evening.
Traveling In September
After facing Loyola, Quinnipiac travels to play Providence
College on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.
