HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team fell to the University of Hartford, 2-0, in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday night in West Hartford, Conn. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 0-2 on the season, while Hartford improves to 1-2 on the year.
Quinnipiac sophomore goalkeeper George Ellis (Greatham, England) made six saves on the night while taking the loss. Hartford's Jordan Bar made two saves in securing the victory.
Through the first 45 minutes of play, both teams were scoreless. Hartford was unable to capitalize on its seven corner kick opportunities as the Bobcats defense held strong.
Hartford struck early in the second half, as Andrew Liapis knocked in his first goal of the season the 53rdminute. Patrick Boucher picked up his first assist of the season on the play.
Quinnipiac nearly tied the game less than minutes later when a shot by sophomore Brett Uttley (Jamestown, R.I.) hit the post in the 62ndminute of play.
The Hawks scored the second goal of the game in the 67thminute on a deflected pass from senior Bojan Delibasic to sophomore James Stamopoulos.
Quinnipiac returns to action Saturday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., when it travels to Baltimore, Md., to face the Greyhounds of Loyola University (Md.).
