The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team opens the 2010 regular season with a non-conference match-up against Boston College on Saturday, Sept. 4^that 4 p.m. at Quinnipiac Soccer Field in Hamden, Conn.

Scouting The Boston College Eagles
Boston College opened the season with a 3-2 victory over the University of Hartford on Sept. 1 in front of a home crowd at the Newton Campus Soccer Field. The Eagles are coming off a season in which they reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Boston College returned to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season and ninth time overall. The Eagles, who enter the contest ranked No. 12 in the College Soccer News preseason polls, return senior midfielder Karl Reddick, a preseason second team All-American selection.

All-Time Against The Eagles
Saturday's non-conference game will be the fifth time the two squads have faced each other. Quinnipiac is 1-3 all-time against Boston College. The Bobcats were dealt their first loss of the 2009-10 season in a 1-0 contest against the Eagles on Oct. 12^th.

2010 Northeast Conference Preseason Poll
The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team was picked to finish second, receiving one first-place vote, in the 2010 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Bobcats finished last season 6-2-2 in the NEC, clinching the third seed in the 2009 NEC Tournament and reaching the conference championship.

Continuing Success
Last season, Quinnipiac finished third in the league for the second consecutive season and reached the conference finals for the first time in program history. The Bobcats were led by a defense that surrendered only 11 conference goals all season.

Leadership In The Back
The Bobcats return three starting senior defenders and four starting defenders overall. Johan Karlhagen (Gothenburg, Sweden), Pierre Soubrier (Aurignac, France) and Tolle Staffanson (Goteborg, Sweden) bring their veteran leadership to the pitch. Accompanying this dominant senior cast of defenders is sophomore Greg DiGiovine (Cranford, N.J.).

Success Is Not A Suprise
Sophomore standout Philip Suprise (Milwaukee, Wis.) put together quite an impressive 2009-10 season. His freshman resume includes receiving Rookie of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks and leading the Bobcats in both points (16) and goals (7). Suprise is not new to such success, as he joined the team last season as the all-time leading scorer in Wisconsin high school history. He will look to build off an exciting rookie season.

Looking Ahead In September
The Bobcats play six games in September, with their home opener against Boston College serving as one of only two on their home turf. The Bobcats then venture on the road for their next three games, with the first contest against Hartford on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. The team then plays Loyola (Md.) on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. and Providence the following Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. The men return home on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. against Yale and travel to Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in a bout against Stony Brook on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m.

Conference Play Gets Started In October
Northeast Conference play begins on home turf Friday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. in a highly anticipated contest against nationally ranked Monmouth. Quinnipiac then hosts Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 12 p.m.
