HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University men's soccer Head Coach Eric Da Costa has announced the addition of Leandro Reis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) to the team as a transfer from Barton Community College. Reis spent two seasons at Barton, helping them to back-to-back NJCAA Division I Championship berths during that time. He will join the Bobcats for the spring season in the upcoming months before beginning his first season with the team in the fall.
"Leandro is an experienced player who I believe will make an immediate impact on our program," Da Costa said. "He is a very offensive-minded player who has a knack for setting up dangerous plays and can also score himself. His vision, ability on the ball and unselfish play will be an asset which will help increase our offensive productivity. Leandro was heavily recruited, were very happy he has joined us and look forward to getting him into the mix."
During his freshman season at Barton, Reis scored 15 goals and added 10 assists to lead his team to an undefeated regular season, earning him a spot on the second team all conference. That season, his team went on to win the Saint Louis Championship Tournament. Reis' performance during the championship run garnered him a spot on the first team all-tournament.
In his second season, Reis finished fifth in the nation in assists with 16, while adding nine goals. Barton finished as the regional and district champions during his sophomore season and a second straight appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. He was named to the all-conference team for the second straight season, earning a spot on the first team.
