Men's Soccer Junior Dwayne Mars Named To CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 University Division First Team

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University men's soccer junior Dwayne Mars (St. Michael, Barbados) has been named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 1 University Division First Team, as released by the College Sports Information Directors of America today. Mars was one of 11 players named to the first team, which also include two other Northeast Conference players. Mars currently carries a 3.76 grade-point average while majoring in finance. By being named to the first team, Mars is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

This season, Mars has helped Quinnipiac to an 8-1-6 overall mark, including an undefeated record in Northeast Conference play at 5-0-2. He currently ranks third on the team with two goals for four points. Last season, Mars finished fourth on the team in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists. He was also third on the team with two game-winning goals.

The 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Teams for men's soccer and women's soccer consist of a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII programs).

Two Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district, with those on the All-District first teams placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
