Sunday's Game
The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team hosts Saint
Francis (Pa.) on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 12 p.m., at the Quinnipiac
Soccer Field. The Bobcats opened their Northeast Conference
schedule with a scoreless draw against Robert Morris on Friday
afternoon. The tie moved Quinnipiac's record to 3-0-5 overall and
0-0-1 in conference play. The Bobcats are one of just two teams
remaining in the NEC without a loss this season.
Scouting the Red Flash
Saint Francis comes to Hamden with a 4-5-1 overall record
and a conference mark of 0-0-1. In the team's last game, the Red
Flash played to a 1-1 tie with Central Connecticut on Friday in New
Britain in their NEC opener. David Butler scored his second goal of
the season in the 18th minute to put the Red Flash up 1-0, but CCSU
tied the game with 13 seconds remaining for the 1-1 draw. Darius
Motazed has played a majority of time in net for Saint Francis and
sports a goal-against average under two.

It's All About Hall
For the fourth time in 2009, senior goalkeeper Freddy Hall
(St. George, Bermuda) did not allow an opponent to score. The
Quinnipiac netminder's fourth shutout of the season came in the
team's NEC opener against Robert Morris. Hall stopped all six
Colonial shots on goal in 110 minutes of action.
He's Back!
After missing two games, senior captain Shane Recklet
(Shelton, Conn.) returned to the Bobcats' lineup against Robert
Morris. Although used primarily as a midfielder against the
Colonials, Recket's play on defense helped the Bobcats keep their
opponents off the scoreboard.
Second Time
For the second time this season, the Bobcats played to a
scoreless draw. On Sept. 7 Quinnipiac tied nationally-ranked Loyola
(Md.), 0-0, before Friday's game with Robert Morris became the
second scoreless tie of the season. The Bobcats also played two 0-0
games last season, coming at Sienna and against Monmouth.
Missed Chances
Dwayne Mars (St. Michael, Barbados) and Nick Pelicaen
(Schoten, Belgium) had the best scoring opportunities for
Quinnipiac. Mars made a move around a defender in the 77th minute,
but shot the ball into the side of the net. Four minutes later,
Pelicaen put a ball just wide of the goalpost on a shot from 15
yards out.
Last Time
Quinnipiac defeated the Red Flash last season, 2-0, in
Loretto, Pa. The Bobcats hold a 5-4-1 all-time series advantage
over Saint Francis and are 3-1-1 all time at home in the
series.
