Graciano Brito Named Brine/NEC Player Of The Week

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer senior captain Graciano Brito (Sao Niculau, Cape Verde) has been named the Brine/Northeast Conference Player of the Week, the conference office today announced. Brito scored two second-half goals to spark a come-from-behind 3-1 Quinnipiac victory over Iona in the season opener.

His goal in the 56th minute tied the game at 1-1. Brito dribbled past two defenders from 30 yards out before sliding the ball past the Iona goalkeeper into the lower left corner of the net. His next goal came with five minutes remaining and gave the Bobcats a two-goal lead. He slipped behind the Iona defense and received a touch pass from Rodrigo Uchoa (Brisilia, Brazil) before putting the ball into the back of the net for his second of the game.

This is the fourth time in his career that Brito has captured the Brine/NEC Player of the Week award. The 2007 NEC Player of the Year now has 24 career goals with the Bobcats including 14 since the beginning of last season.

The Bobcats play their first home game on Wednesday as they host the New Jersey Institute of Technology at 4 p.m. on Bobcat Field.
