HAMDEN, Conn. – For the third time this season, junior Gill Conners (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced on Monday, April 8, 2013. Conners has been one of the nation's best goalies this season and an instrumental piece to Quinnipiac's roster.
Conners helped the Bobcats even their NEC record at 1-1 with a 13-save performance in a 12-8 win over Mount St. Mary's (4/6). He made three saves in the first, four in the middle stanzas and two in the final 15 minutes of play. The Ballston, N.Y. native also nabbed two groundballs in his fourth win of the season.
Conners is ninth in the nation and leads the NEC in saves per game (13.44) and is 12th in the nation and leads the NEC in saves percentage (.571). He has 121 saves this year, just six away from cracking top-10 for saves in a single season.
Quinnipiac is back in action on Tuesday, April 9 with its final non-conference game of the season. The Bobcats welcome Harvard to the QU Lacrosse Turf for a 4 p.m. tilt.
