Quinnipiac Men’s Lacrosse Ranked No. 20 In USILA Poll; Receiving Votes in Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll

HAMDEN, Conn. – For the first time in program history, the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team was ranked in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Poll, announced on Monday, March 4, 2013. The Bobcats garnered No. 20 in the census, while also receiving votes in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll as well. Quinnipiac earned the respect of the voters by its 2-0 start – which features two wins on the road at Brown and Detroit Mercy.
The University of Maryland is off to a 4-0 start and has been deemed No. 1 for the second straight week in both polls. The Terrapins received 22/21 first place votes, with the final three/four votes going to Notre Dame – who is ranked second. Cornell, Loyola and Princeton round out the top five for each association; followed by Johns Hopkins, Denver, Virginia, UMass and UNC in the USILA poll and Johns Hopkins, Denver, Ohio State, Virginia and Syracuse in the Nike/Insider Lacrosse poll.
Fellow Northeast Conference member, Mount St. Mary's, joined the Bobcat in receiving votes in the Nike/Lacrosse Poll. The Mountaineers are 2-3 through their first five games of the campaign.

The Bobcats return to the turf on Friday, March 8th with a neutral-site showdown against Vermont. Quinnipiac heads down to Maryland for a 7:45 p.m. tilt against the Catamounts at Severna Park High School in Severna Park, Md.
