Bill Tully Joins Quinnipiac Men's Lacrosse Coaching Staff
Quinnipiac Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald and Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Eric Fekete have announced that Bill Tully has been hired as an assistant coach for the men’s lacrosse program. Tully comes to QU from the University of Detroit Mercy where he served as an assistant coach for the Titans last year.

Former Men's Lacrosse Captain Chris Coppolecchia Drafted By Reading Rockets
Former Quinnipiac Men’s Lacrosse captain Chris Coppolecchia (Somers, N.Y.) was recently selected in the second round of the inaugural Professional Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft, announced on July 24, 2012 by the association. The Reading Rockets, a team out of Pennsylvania, have added the 6-foot-1 defenseman to their 2012 roster.

Junior Basil Kostaras (Southlake, Texas) of the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division I All-New England Second Team, announced on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The NEILA Awards are nominated and selected by representatives from programs within the association.

Binkowski, Wilbur Named To 2012 NEC Men's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team
Juniors Jay Binkowski (Bethany, Conn.) and Brendan Wilbur (Hingham, Mass.) of the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team were named to the 2012 Northeast Conference Men’s Lacrosse All-Tournament Team, announced on Sunday, May 6, 2012. Binkowski and Wilbur each performed very well in the semifinals against Bryant to earn the accolade.

#3 Men's Lacrosse Falls To #2 Bryant, 11-6, In Northeast Conference Semifinals
The #3 seeded Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team saw its season come to an end on Friday night, as the Bobcats fell to #2 Bryant University in the Northeast Conference Semifinals, 11-6, at Joe Walton Stadium on the campus of the #1 seed Robert Morris University. Earlier in the day, #4 Mount St. Mary’s upset the Colonials in an overtime thriller, leaving a showdown between the Mountaineers and the Bulldogs for the championship on Sunday afternoon.

Five Bobcats Earn All-NEC Honors; Coppolecchia Named To First Team
Five members of the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team were presented with All-Northeast Conference honors on Thursday night, as Robert Morris University and league officials hosted its second annual NEC Pre-Tournament Banquet at the Holiday Inn located outside of the Pittsburgh International Airport. Senior defenseman Chris Coppolecchia (Somers, N.Y.) earned a selection to the NEC First Team, while Michael Sagl (West Islip, N.Y.), Matt Diehl (Towson, Md.), Pat Corcoran (Stratford, Conn.) and Greg Pendergast (South Windsor, Conn.) were tabbed to the All-Rookie Team.

The #3 seeded Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team (3-10, 2-3 NEC) will look to advance to its second consecutive Northeast Conference Tournament Championship on Friday night, as the Bobcats take on #2 Bryant University (12-4, 4-1 NEC) at Joe Walton Field in Moon Township, Pa. The #1 seeded Robert Morris Colonials (11-3, 5-0 NEC) and #4 Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers (5-8, 2-3 NEC) open the single-elimination at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Bobcats and Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m.

With the #3 seed locked in for the upcoming 2012 Northeast Conference Tournament, the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team used the regular-season finale as a tune-up for next week’s single-elimination playoff. On Saturday night, the Bobcats traveled down Route 95 to Sacred Heart University for Senior Night at Campus Field. The Pioneers prevailed with a 13-9 victory.

Freshman Pat Corcoran (Stratford, Conn.) scored four goals on Saturday afternoon, but the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team dropped a Northeast Conference game to Robert Morris, 25-9, at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township, Pa. Nonetheless, the Bobcats have clinched the three seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament, set to begin on Friday, May 4.

Prior to the 1 p.m. faceoff, the Quinnipiac University Department of Athletics and Recreation honored five senior class members, Adam Dahlgard (Bethany, Conn.), Andrew Federico (Andover, Mass.), Grant Marston (Duxbury, Mass.), Chris Messina (West Islip, N.Y.) and Chris Coppolecchia (Somers, N.Y.) for their hard work and dedication to the program.

Diehl earned his first career NEC Player/Rookie of the Week accolade, while Coppolecchia was tabbed the NEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Freshman Matt Diehl (Towson, Md.) led a potent Bobcats’ offense with five goals on Saturday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team upended the Northeast Conference’s preseason favorite Mount St. Mary’s, 12-8, at Waldron Family Stadium. QU’s attack was absolutely stellar on a misty day in Emmitsburg, putting 16 of their 22 shots on target and controlling 14 of 24 face-offs.

Junior Jay Binkowski (Bethany, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal with just 40 seconds remaining on Saturday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team upended Binghamton University, 12-11, at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field. The Bobcats held the Bearcats off in the waning moments, leaving Binkowski’s third tally of the game as the difference.

The Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team is one of four teams to participate in the Christian Prince Memorial Tournament on Sunday, October 16th at Reese Stadium on the campus of Yale University. The field consists of all Connecticut-based institutions including Sacred Heart, Fairfield and the hosting Bulldogs.
