HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University senior men's lacrosse player Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.) and freshman Dylan Webster (Brampton, Ontario) have been named the Northeast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office today announced. The honors come following the Bobcats' 19-15 victory against preseason NEC favorite Robert Morris on Saturday. The honor is the fifth in the last six weeks for Webster, while Kelly earned his first award.
Kelly scored a team-high five goals in the Bobcats' win against Robert Morris to run his season total to 16, also a team high. Kelly scored the Bobcats' first goal of the game and Quinnipiac never trailed the rest of the way. With the Colonials mounting a second-half comeback, Kelly scored four of the Bobcats' nine goals in the third and fourth quarters to help hold off Robert Morris.
Webster played perhaps his most complete all-around game of the season against Robert Morris, registering a goal, three assists, seven ground balls, two caused turnovers and winning all 10 of his face-off attempts. The three assists are a season-high and match his prior season assist total. The four points match his season high while the seven ground balls, 10 face-off wins and two caused turnovers are all season highs.
The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, when they play host to Harvard. Opening face-off from the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field is scheduled for 4 p.m.
