Three Men's Lacrosse Players Named All-NEC

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse juniors Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, N.Y.) and Jake Glebocki (Wilbraham, Mass.) were named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team, while freshman Basil Kostaras (Southlake, Texas) earned NEC All-Rookie Team recognition, the league office today announced.

Haggerty led the Bobcats in both points (45) and assists (25) this season. Haggerty's 25 assists rank tied for second in Quinnipiac single-season history, while he became just the fourth Quinnipiac player to reach both 20 goals and 20 assists in a single season. Haggerty joined Joe Baglio (49 G, 29 A in 2001) as the only other Quinnipiac player with a 20-20 season at Division I, while Brian Perry (33 G, 25 A in 1998) and P.J. Gillard (24 G, 21 A in 1995) achieved the feat at the Division II level.

Glebocki anchored a Bobcats defense that held the opposition to just 8.57 goals per game. Starting all 14 games for Quinnipiac, he picked up 27 ground balls on the season.

After being held pointless through his first seven games, Kostaras blossomed at the end of his initial collegiate career with three goals and nine assists. He also picked up 16 ground balls and caused three turnovers. He totaled three points in consecutive games against Holy Cross and Bellarmine, and added a goal and an assist in the Bobcats' next game against Sacred Heart.
