Kevin Benzing Earns ECAC Lacrosse, NEC Defensive Player of the Week

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University senior men's lacrosse goalie Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, Md.) has been named both the ECAC Lacrosse and Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league offices today announced. Benzing made a career-high 21 saves on 28 opportunities to propel the Bobcats to their first-ever ECAC Lacrosse victory, Saturday at Hobart. The 21 saves were the most in the nation in a single game this week, and tied for fourth-most in a single game in NCAA Division I this season. With the performance, Benzing's season save percentage moved to .674, tops in the nation. Meanwhile, his 6.66 goals-against average ranks third in NCAA Division I.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when they play host to Ohio State in an ECAC Lacrosse clash. Opening face-off from the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field is scheduled for noon.
