Men's Lacrosse Welcomes Wagner Thursday

Bobcats Play Host To Wagner Wednesday
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team plays host
to future Northeast Conference foe Wagner Thursday afternoon in
Hamden. The Bobcats are coming off an 11-5 loss Saturday to No. 10
Loyola (Md.), while the Seahawks fell to Rutgers, 24-4, in their
season opener, Feb. 21 on Staten Island. The Bobcats have won all
five meetings in the two teams' Division I histories, including a
13-5 victory last season on Staten Island.
Scouting the Wagner Seahawks
The Seahawks are led by Colin O'Rourke, who scored two
goals and added an assist against Rutgers. Cody Isdaner added a
goal and an assist, while Will Macumber tallied one goal. John
Rushton took the majority of Wagner's face-offs against Rutgers,
winning three of 14 attempts. Peter Rubin played 45 minutes in net
for Wagner against the Scarlet Knights, allowing 18 goals while
making eight saves. Michael Gutkin matched Rubin's 24.00 GAA,
allowing six goals in 15 minutes, while making four saves.
Kaiser Connects
Todd Kaiser led the Bobcats with a goal and an assist in
Quinnipiac's season opener against No. 10 Loyola, Feb. 27.
Benzing Sends Back 16 Shots
Kevin Benzing did all he could to keep the Bobcats in the
game, Feb. 27, against nationally-ranked No. 10 Loyola. Benzing
stopped 16 of the 27 shots he faced on the day.

'Cats Back
The Bobcats return 30 of 35 letter winners from a year
ago, including the team's top eight goal scorers. Junior Jack
Oppenheimer scored a team-high 20 goals last season, while
classmate Kevin Kelly was close behind with 17. Senior Ted Dimond
also contributed double-digit goals with 12. Seniors Todd Kaiser
(7), Garett Kerr (7), Alex DeAlmeida (5), Mike Gast (5), and Zach
Dendas (5) all return for the Bobcats' offense.
On
Deck
The Bobcats face a quick turnaround this weekend, taking
to the road to face Detroit-Mercy on Sunday. Opening face-off is
scheduled for 12 p.m. in Detroit, Mich.
