HAMDEN, Conn. Quinnipiac junior men's lacrosse player Todd Kaiser (Summit, N.J.) has been named the Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Week, the league today announced. Kaiser scored four goals and added two assists to lead the Bobcats to an 11-10 win against No. 19 Denver Saturday. The win was the first in program history against a nationally-ranked opponent.
For the season, Kaiser is tied for fourth on the team in goals (6) and tied for second in assists (5). His 11 points are good for fifth on the team.
Kaiser's goal at the 4:30 mark of the first quarter against Denver tied the game at two. Ted Dimond (Marblehead, Mass.) assisted on marker, Kaiser's first of the game.
After falling behind, 6-3, at the halftime break, Kaiser played a part in four straight Quinnipiac goals to give the Bobcats their first lead of the game, 7-6, by the end of the third quarter. The Bobcats never relinquished the lead. Kaiser scored twice and assisted on two more goals in the span.
The Bobcats extended the lead to its high point, 11-7, with four of the first five goals in the fourth quarter. Kaiser contributed to the run with his fourth goal of the game with 8:20 remaining in regulation to put Quinnipiac in front, 10-7.
The Bobcats return to action April 11, when they welcome intrastate foe Sacred Heart to the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. Opening face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
