Men's Lacrosse Falls At No. 18 Brown, 7-3

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, Md.) made 17 saves, but the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 18 Brown, 7-3, Friday afternoon at Meister Kavan Field. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-3, while the Bears improve to 2-1.

Ted Dimond (Marblehead, Mass.), Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.) and Jack Oppenheimer (Conshohocken, Pa.) scored goals for the Bobcats, while Alex DeAlmeida (Pt. Pleasant, N.J.) and Gary Messina (West Islip, N.Y.) added assists.

Andrew Feinberg led Brown with three goals, while Kyle Hollingsworth added two. Jordan Burke took the win in net for the Bears, stopping 10 shots while allowing two goals.

After Dimond put the Bobcats in front, 1-0, the Bears scored seven of the next eight goals to take a commanding, 7-2 lead with just under two minutes remaining. The Bears scored three straight goals following Dimond's marker. Kelly scored off an assist from Messina to cut the deficit to 3-2 with 1:07 remaining in the second quarter.

The Bears scored four times in just more than the first 28 minutes of the second half before Oppenheimer found the back of the net with 10 seconds remaining in the game.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday, March 14, when they play host to Air Force in both their home and GWLL opener. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field.
