Lafayette opened the scoring with a Bauer goal at the 5:08 mark, the only goal of the first quarter. The Bobcats evened the scoring just over a minute into the second quarter on Oppenheimer's first goal of the game. Dimond picked up the assist.
The Leopards kept the pressure on, scoring three unanswered goals within a span of two minutes and 11 seconds. Perini scored the first two and Colin Serling tallied the third. The Bobcats again had the answer, scoring three straight goals of their own. Dendas put the first in the back of the next with just over six minutes remaining in the half before helping DeAlmeida beat the halftime buzzer with two seconds left. Messina assisted on the Dendas goal.
The Bobcats tied the game less than a minute and a half into the third quarter when Dimond scored unassisted. But the Leopards put four of the final five goals on the board to put the game away.
The Bobcats conclude their four-game season-opening road trip Friday, when they travel to Providence, R.I., to face nationally-ranked Brown. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Meister Kavan Field.
