Nationally-ranked No. 3 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold will appear on SiriusXM's College Sports Nation's "This Week In College Hockey" with Zig Fracassi on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. College Sports Nation is available on Channel 91 on SiriusXM radio.
Pecknold, now in his 20th season as the Bobcats' head coach, has guided Quinnipiac to the No. 3 ranking in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey in the two major national polls. Pecknold's Bobcats are currently 20-5-5 overall and 10-3-3 in ECAC Hockey play. The Bobcats rank second nationally in scoring offense (3.70 goals per game), third in goals-against per game (1.97), second in scoring margin (1.73), second in penalty kill percentage (89.6) and 12th in power play percentage (21.3).
On Friday, Feb. 7, Pecknold coached his 700th career game, becoming just the 20th coach in college hockey history to do. He is currently one of eight active coaches with 700 career games on his resume. Pecknold holds a career record of 387-243-71 (.603). Of his 16 NCAA Division I seasons, Pecknold has compiled 13, 20-win seasons and has never posted a losing record at the Division I level. Last season, Quinnipiac clinched the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, winning the East Regional and advancing to the NCAA Frozen Four for the first time in program history before falling in the National Championship game.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Feb. 14 when it travels to New Haven, Conn. to take on Yale in an ECAC Hockey match-up at 7 p.m. at Ingalls Rink. The game will be televised locally on CPTV, where available. The Bobcats will then travel to Providence, R.I. on Saturday, Feb. 15 to take on Brown at 4 p.m.
