The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team took a break from practice on Monday, Jan. 13 to visit the students at Green Acres Elementary School. The event was part of Quinnipiac's Positive Play initiative which encourages community involvement by Quinnipiac student-athletes, coaches and staff.
The Bobcats arrived at the school at approximately 9 a.m. and were divided into several groups to visit different grades throughout the school. Matthew Peca, Joe Fiala, Sam Anas, Dan Federico, Tom Hilbrich, Zach Luczyk, Tim Clifton, Connor Clifton, Tommy Schutt, Matt Lemire, Bryce Van Brabant and Soren Jonzzon were divided into groups in the schools cafetaria. There, the dozen Bobcats read a book to a small group of children, and then participated with the children and drawing their favorite part of the book.
Connor and Kellen Jones, Alex Barron, Michael Garteig, Alex Barron, Travis St. Denis, Devon Toews, Zach Tolkinen, Brooks Robinson, Jacob Meyers, K.J. Tiefenwerth, Derek Smith, Brayden Sherbinin and captain Cory Hibbeler were divided into classrooms where they read a book to the entire class before answering geography questions on where their respective hometowns were.
