HAMDEN, Conn. – Both the No. 5 ranked Quinnipiac men's ice hockey along with the No. 8 women's ice hockey teams were featured in a news brief on the American Hockey Coaches Association website released on Thursday, Dec. 5. The combined efforts of the men's and women's staffs at Quinnipiac were honored alongside Minnesota's programs, by the AHCA, as the National Coaching Staffs for the month of November.
Compiled by the writing staff of the AHCA, the article entitled "Gophers and Bobcats Start Fast" discussed each of the top college hockey programs for both the men and women throughout the start of the 2013-14 season. Among the teams mentioned include both the Quinnipiac and Minnesota men and women's programs as well as the Michigan men and Harvard women's head coach Katie Stone.
The Quinnipiac men (13-2-2, 6-1-1 ECAC Hockey) ripped off a 13 game unbeaten streak (12-0-1) throughout the majority of October and November while the women (12-2-5, 3-2-4 ECAC Hockey) tallied an eight game unbeaten streak of their own (5-0-3) for the better part of November.
