Quinnipiac's Emmy Nominated feature show "Bobcats Unleashed in HD" will be televised four times, beginning on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 9:30 p.m on SNY following men's ice hockey's game against Massachusetts.
"'Bobcats Unleashed In HD' has been made possible by professional HD production by Peter Sumby and our School of Communications students," Director of Athletics Jack McDonald said. "We are extremely happy to be able to bring our athletic highlights in high definition to our fans, families and alumni, as well as to all the 28 million NESN and SNY viewers on cable and satellite."
The show was produced and directed by Peter Sumby, Associate Director of the Ed McMahon Mass Communications Center and was hosted by Jayme Parker, Bill Mecca, Senior Associate Director of Athletics, and Bill Schweizer, Media Coordinator.
The show highlights Quinnipiac men's ice hockey's amazing run to the NCAA Frozen Four in Pittsburgh, Pa. and playing in the National Championship Game against Whitney Ave. Rival Yale University. Head coach Rand Pecknold, as well as assistant coaches Bill Riga and Reid Cashman discuss the game and rivalry born at Pittburgh's XCel Center while seniors Cory Hibbeler, Jordan Samuels-Thomas and Connor Jones reflect on the incredible journey.
The second segment discusses the growing concern over the prevalence of concussions in college sports and the steps athletic trainers and sports medicine professionals are taking in regards to prevention and treatment of concussions. Former men's basketball student-athlete Ed Zajac discusses how his playing career was affected by concussions.
The final segment spot-lights Quinnipiac's international student-athletes, specifically the adjustment that must be made when moving and attending college in the United States. Women's soccer junior Aine McKeever and men's soccer player Eric Panzer reflect on becoming student-athletes at Quinnipiac after moving to the U.S. from Ireland and New Zealand, respectively.
