Quinnipiac men's ice hockey goalie Michael Garteig was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 19. It is Garteig's third honor of the year, after being honored on Oct. 22 and Nov. 5
Quinnipiac's NCAA leading unbeaten streak reached 12 games this weekend, and Michael Garteig was been between the pipes for every minute of it. This weekend, Garteig improved to 11-1-1 on the year with a 31-save performance in a 3-2 win against Harvard on Friday and a 19-save outing in a 3-1 win against Dartmouth.
For the weekend, he posted a 2-0-0 record with a 1.50 GAA and a .943 save percentage after stopping 50 of 53 shots on goal. He was also the only ECAC Hockey goalie to start two games and post a sub-2.00 GAA (1.50) and a save percentage over .900% (.943).
For the year, Garteig is 11-1-1 with a .885 winning percentage, good for third nationally, with a .924 save percentage, and a 1.53 goals-against average, good for second nationally.
