Quinnipiac men's ice hockey junior Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario) was featured on NHL.com in an article by Adam Kimelman that highlights potential 2014 Hobey Baker Award candidates.
Peca enters his third season at Quinnipiac with 69 career points on the strength of 23 goals and 46 assists in 78 games played. Last year, Peca tallied 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points, good for second on the Bobcats' roster. His season was highlighted by a four-goal, one-assist showing in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. His natural hat trick against Union in the NCAA Tournament East Regional Finals was the fastest in the history of the NCAA Tournament and his four goals were second among the 56 players to light the lamp in the national tournament.
Peca was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round (201st pick overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.
