Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Falls to Martigny, 3-1
Quinnipiac men's ice hockey lost to Martigny, 3-1, in an exhibition game played in Martigny, Switzerland. Sophomore Matt Lemire (Townsend, Mass.) scored for the Bobcats in the loss to the Red Ice.
Lemire's goal came off a draw in the Red Ice's end. Brooks Robinson (Duncan, British Columbia) won the draw to the right of Martigny's goal, playing the puck back to Lemire. Lemire stepped between the faceoff circles and banged home the goal to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead in the second period.
Quinnipiac goalie Jacob Meyers (Chanhassen, Minn.) was solid for much of the game, stopping the first 22 shots he saw on goal before giving up two midway through the third. Martigny added an empty-netter to solidify a 3-1 final score.
Quinnipiac's tour of Italy continues in Milan and Venice on Aug. 15-16, respectively, before the team travels to Bassano de Grappa to play Asiago in a two-game series on Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18.
