The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team departed Newark International Airport on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m., arriving in Milan just after 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11. The Bobcats were greeted by their EuroSportsTours Guides and embarked on their first trip of their 11-day tour.
On their descent, the Bobcats got a birdseye view of the Swizz Alps and the Northern Italy countryside.
The Bobcats toured beautiful Lake Como and their surrounding neighborhood, taking in the views of one of Northern Italy's most breathtaking areas. The group also toured the Como Cathedral, also known as Duomo.
The Duomo di Como is regarded as the last gothic cathedrals built in Italy, and serves as the seat of the Bishop of Como. Construction of the cathedral begame in the late 1300's and was not completed until 1770.
The Bobcats also got their first taste of Italian cuisine, sampling authentic pizza at Cafe Riva. They also stopped in a gelato shop close to sample one of the region's sweeter treats before retiring to their hotel after a long day of travel.
