Empire State of Mind

Last Time Out
Four different Bobcats scored as No. 2 Quinnipiac defeated Cornell, 4-1, at Lynah Rink on Friday, Feb. 8. Clay Harvey, Jordan Samuels-Thomas, Matthew Peca and Connor Jones all scored as Quinnipiac improved to 20-3-4 overall, while they also remain undefeated in ECAC Hockey play at 13-0-2.
A Hard Dozen
Shakin' Off That Sophomore Slump
More Hartzell Notes
Eric Hartzell stopped 24 of Cornell's 25 shots on goal to improve to 20-2-4 on the season. Hartzell becomes the first Quinnipiac goalie to win 20 games since Bud Fisher was 20-14-5 as a sophomore in 2006-07. He is also the third goalie - joining Fisher and Jamie Holden (20-11-3 in 2004-05) - to win 20 games in a season.
The Bobcats' Magic Number
A win in tonight's game would clinch a first-round bye for the Bobcats in the ECAC Hockey Tournament and would mean the Bobcats could finish no lower than 2nd place in the league standings.

Good Company
Since Quinnipiac joined the NCAA Division I ranks for the 1998-99 season, the Bobcats are just the third team – joining Minnesota (22 games, 2006-07) and North Dakota (20 games, 2008-08) - to post undefeated streaks of 20 or more games.
What's Up Next
Following the Bobcats' ECAC Hockey weekend series in New York against Cornell on Feb. 8 and Colgate on Feb. 9, the Bobcats will return home to host St. Lawrence and Clarkson at the TD Bank Sports Center on Feb. 15-16 respectively.
Sitting Pretty
The Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey team held its No. 2 ranking in both national polls this week. The Bobcats also received 20 of the 50 first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll and 13 of the 34 votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.
The PairWise Rankings
After collecting three points in last weekend's ECAC Hockey series with Brown and No. 7 Yale, the nationally-ranked Bobcats remained at the top of the PairWise Rankings. It is the second time in program history that the Bobcats have held down the top spot in the PWR's. In 2009, Quinnipiac moved into the top spot after opening the season at 12-1-0.
Scouting the Colgate Raiders
All-Time Against Colgate
Both teams will look for the overall edge in the all-time series as the series is currently knotted at 12-12-2. Colgate is the only ECAC team to beat the Bobcats this season, however, the win came in a non-conference matchup at the Cape Cod Classic in Hyannis, Mass.
The Last Time They Played
The Bobcats vanquished the Raiders in overtime to open ECAC Hockey play on Nov. 9. Russell Goodman scored twice, including the game-winner, to give Quinnipiac their first conference win, and to ultimately start their current unbeaten streak. Loren Barron scored the other goal for the Bobcats, while Spiro Goulakos and Thomas Larkin scored for Colgate.
We're Going Streaking!
Aside from Quinnipiac's current 20-game unbeaten streak, the team has also put together a run of nine straight games in which they have allowed two goals or less.
Shaking the Rankings
With the win at Yale, the Bobcats improved to 9-0-0 on the year against opponents ranked in the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls at the time of the game. Quinnipiac is also 11-1-1 against teams that have been ranked at one point during the season and 14-2-2 against teams ranked or receiving votes in 2012-13.
