The nationally-ranked Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team, currently on a NCAA-leading 16 game unbeaten streak (14-0-2), jumped to first in the PairWise Rankings. Quinnipiac is currently a NCAA Division I-best 10-2-2 against teams under consideration.  It is the second time in program history that the Bobcats have held down the top spot in the PWR's. In 2009, Quinnipiac moved into the top spot after opening the season at 12-1-0. 

Quinnipiac is idle this weekend, and will return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 22 when it hosts UConn at the High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on WCCT-TV, where available. Quinnipiac is currently 17-3-3 overall for the nation's best winning percentage (.804) and is in first place in ECAC Hockey at 11-0-1. Earlier this week, the Bobcats ascended to the No. 4 spot, with two first place votes, in the USCHO.com Division I poll while remaining, for the second straight week, in the No. 5 spot, with three first place votes, in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll.

The PairWise Ranking is a system which attempts to mimic the method used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine participants for the NCAA Division I men's hockey tournament. The PWR compares Teams Under Consideration (TUC), those with a Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) of .500 or more, judging them by four criteria: record against common opponents, head-to-head competition, record against other TUC if a team has played 10 or more games against TUC, and the RPI.

For each comparison won, a team receives one point. The final PWR ranking is based on the number of points (comparisons) won against teams with an RPI at or above .500. Ties are settled by the RPI.
