The nationally-ranked No. 4/5 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team will be featured on Fox Connecticut Sports on Thursday, Jan. 17. The Bobcats head coach Rand Pecknold and senior goalie Eric Hartzell were met with Fox Connecticut sports director Rich Coppola on Thursday afternoon at High Point Solutions Arena.
Quinnipiac is currently 17-3-3 overall and 11-0-1 in ECAC Hockey play - placing the Bobcats in first place in the league standings with 10 more points than the second place team. The Bobcats also own the nation's longest unbeaten streak at 16 games (14-0-2) and are tied for first in the PairWise Rankings with Boston College and New Hampshire. This past week, Quinnipiac ascended to the No. 4 slot in the USCHO.com Division I poll, receiving two first place votes, as well as the No. 5 slot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll. Quinnipiac garnered three first place votes in that poll.
Hartzell is featured in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd". The Bobcats' senior goalie is a Hobey Baker nominee, currently leads the nation with an .841 winning percentage after posting a 17-2-3 record to go with a 1.48 goals-against average (1st-NCAA) and a .930 save percentage.
The Bobcats are back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 22 when it hosts the University of Connecticut at 7 p.m. at the High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. The game can be seen live on WCCT-TV, where available.
