Scouting Ohio State
Ohio State comes to Hamden with record of 1-1-0 following
a two-game split against Minnesota-Duluth last weekend. Ohio State
lost the first game of the series, 6-2, before responding with a
3-2 win in the second game. Five different Buckeyes accounted for
Ohio State's five goals for the weekend while Tanner Fritz and Max
McCormick had a goal and an assist each. Alex Lippincott had two
assists for the weekend. In goal, Collin Olson opened the year at
1-0-0 after stopped 28 of Minnesota-Duluth's 30 shots on goal on
Saturday.
All-Time Against Ohio State
Quinnipiac and Ohio State have faced-off seven times
since their first match-up on Jan. 6, 2004 - a 1-0 win by Ohio
State that featured one of the all-time great goalie performances
in Quinnipiac history in Justin Eddy's 53-save outing. After a
brief hiatus in the all-time series, QU and OSU have played six
times over the last three years with the Bobcats winning four of
the six games. After a season-opening sweep in 2009 in Columbus,
Ohio, the Buckeyes visited the Nutmeg State for the first time in
2010. Quinnipiac took the first game of the series, 2-1, before
Ohio State responded with a 4-0 shut-out. Last season, the two
teams faced each other on the first weekend of the season, with
Ohio State winning the first game before Quinnipiac responded with
a 4-3 win. In that game, Jeremy
Langlois scored twice while Kellen Jones
had two assists.
The Quinnipiac Poll
Quinnipiac was ranked 20th in the latest USCHO.com
Division I Poll, released on Oct. 15. The Bobcats also received the
20th most votes (19) in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine
Poll.
Bobcats Raised $24K For St. Baldrick's Foundation
On Sunday, Oct. 14, Quinnipiac men's ice hockey hosts its
second St. Baldrick's head-shaving event in the last four years,
raising over $24,000 for the foundation for children's cancer
research. The Bobcats raised over $35,000 in 2008 for the
charity.
Putting Up Points
Through his first two games of the season, senior Jeremy
Langlois has tallied three points on a goal and two assists. After
setting up both of Quinnipiac's goal in its 2-1 win against Maine,
Langlois scored his first goal of the season in the Bobcats 4-0 win
against Robert Morris on Oct. 13.
Atta Boy Harvs
Senior Clay Harvey
picked up a pair of assists in the Bobcats' 4-0 shutout of Robert
Morris on Oct. 13. Harvey tipped a pass to Cory
Hibbeler for the Bobcats' second goal of the game before
feeding Langlois with for a shorthanded goal midway through the
third period.
Scorin' Loren
Loren Barron
also had a two-point night against Robert Morris on Oct. 13,
scoring once and assisting on another. Barron set-up Russell
Goodman with his first goal of the season before scoring on a
beautiful shot from the top of the face-off circle later in the
game.
Back At It
Russell Goodman scored the Bobcats' first goal of the
game in their 4-0 win against Robert Morris. It was Goodman's first
goal since Dec. 30, 2011 when the senior win scored against
Nebraska-Omaha.
Shut 'em Down
Quinnipiac senior goalie Eric
Hartzell stopped all 16 of Robert Morris' shots on goal on
Saturday, Oct. 13 for his sixth career shutout and his 30th career
