Quinnipiac senior Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ontario) has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2012. Clarke is the fourth Quinnipiac player to earn ECAC Hockey weekly honors this season after Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.) earned player of the week honors on Oct. 18; Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario) was named the league's rookie of the week on Oct. 25; and Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was named goalie of the week on Jan. 10.
Clarke made an appearance in the Bobcats' 6-3 loss to Harvard on Friday, Feb. 3, turning away 7-of-8 shots on goal in the final period of play. He came back on the following night, earning his first start since Dec. 9, 2011, with a 32-save performance in a 2-1 ECAC Hockey win against Dartmouth. For the weekend, Clarke was 1-0-0 with a .951 save percentage while also posting a 1.66 goals-against average after letting up two goals in 72:28 in net.
The honor is Clarke's fifth of his career after winning four ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week awards as a sophomore in 2009-10. This season, Clarke is 7-3-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. For his career, Clarke is 31-32-5 with a 2.57 GAA and a .905 save percentage with five shutouts.
The Bobcats are on the road this weekend, as they head to the North Country to take on St. Lawrence on Friday, Feb. 10 and Clarkson on Saturday, Feb. 11.
