Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Hosts Cornell On Saturday, Jan. 8 At 7 PM
The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team will host Cornell on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats defeated Colgate on Friday night, 3-1, to improve to 5-5-2 in ECAC Hockey and 11-9-2 overall. Cornell defeated Princeton on Friday, 2-1, to improve to 3-4-0 in league play and 5-8-1 overall. The Bobcats are 3-0-1 in their last four games and 4-1-1 in their last six.
The
Bobcats benefited from a two-point night from Connor Jones
(Montrose, British Columbia) who scored Quinnipiac's first goal of
the game before setting up Ben Arnt (Oakland, Minn.) with the
game-winner. Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.) added an empty-net goal
for his sixth goal in his last eight games.
Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) stopped 24 of Colgate's 25
shots on goal while the Bobcats also blocked 15 shots in front of
the 6-4 goalie. After a shaky start against Providence before the
Bobcats' break, Hartzell has been a wall in goal, posting a 3-0-1
record, including back-to-back wins Nebraska Omaha and a tie
against Princeton, both nationally-ranked programs. Hartzell also
boasts a .957 save percentage and a 1.71 goals-against average over
that span. He was credited with his first career point on an assist
on Jones' goal Friday night.
Following their game tonight against Cornell, the Bobcats head out
on the road next weekend to Buffalo, N.Y. to face Canisius on
Sunday, Jan. 16 and Monday, Jan. 17, with both games set to start
at 7 p.m. They return home on Jan. 22 to host the USA Under-18
National Team at 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center. Quinnipiac
closes out the month on the road at Clarkson and St. Lawrence on
Jan. 28-29 before hosting four ECAC Hockey match-ups in the month
of February. Fans in attendance
for the Friday night's game against Colgate can redeem their
tickets for tickets on Jan. 22 against the Team USA U18 National
Team, Feb. 4 against Rensselaer, Feb. 5 against Union and Feb. 19
against Brown.
