Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Hosts Colgate, Cornell This Weekend

Bobcats, Raiders and The Big Red
The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team will host Colgate on Friday,
Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. followed by a match-up with Cornell on Saturday,
Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
Quinnipiac is riding a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1) against
nationally-ranked Nebraska Omaha and Princeton and stand at 10-9-2
overall and 4-5-2 in ECAC Hockey. Colgate is currently 3-14-1
overall and 0-5-1 in ECAC Hockey play while Cornell is 4-8-1
overall and 2-4-0 in league action.

All-Time Against Colgate
Quinnipiac and Colgate have met 17 times since the Bobcats joined
ECAC Hockey in 2005. All-time, Quinnipiac is 8-8-1 against the
Raiders, with a 4-4-0 mark on their home sheet and a 3-4-1 mark at
Colgate's Starr Rink, including a record of 3-1-1 in their last
four trips to Hamilton. The Bobcats have won three of their last
four meetings with Colgate on their home ice.
Scouting Colgate University
Colgate is in search of its first ECAC Hockey win at 0-5-1, while
also posting an overall record of 3-14-1. Colgate has lost five
straight and nine of its last 10 games. In their last meeting, on
Nov. 13, 2010, Quinnipiac defeated Colgate, 3-1, at Starr Rink.
Austin Smith leads five double-digit scorers with five goals and a
team-high 12 assists for a Raider-best 17 points. Francois
Brisebois checks in with five goals and nine assists for 14 points
while Brian Day boasts a team-high eight goals to go with five
assists for 13 points. Robbie Bourbon (5-8--13) and Kurtis Bartliff
(2-10--12) slot in behind them. In goal, Alex Evin has seen 71.4%
of the minutes in goal for the Raiders, posting a 3-9-1 record with
a .893 save percentage and a 3.09 goals-against average.
All-Time Against Cornell
Quinnipiac has won four of 15 games all-time against Cornell, with
two of those three wins coming in the 2007 ECAC Hockey
Quarterfinals to send the Bobcats to the tournament quarterfinals
that year. In their last five meetings, Quinnipiac is 1-3-1.
Quinnipiac is 1-3-1 al-time on their home ice including a 0-2-1
record at the TD Bank Sports Center.
Scouting Cornell
Cornell is currently 4-8-1 overall and 2-4-0 in ECAC Hockey play
and have not won in their last three games, including a 2-2 tie
against Alabama-Huntsville, a 4-3 loss to St. Cloud State and a 3-2
loss to Maine. The Big Red features just one player to reach double
digits this season in Greg Miller, who has tallied two goals to go
with his team-leading nine assists and 11 points. Nick D'Agostino
and Jorday Kary are tied for the team lead with four goals on the
year.
Best
At Closing It Out
Quinnipiac currently holds the longest active unbeaten streak when
leading after the second period. The Bobcats are 52-0-5 in their
last 57 games dating back to March 17, 2007. Miami was previous
unbeaten in 81 straight games (78-0-3) dating back to March 9, 2007
before giving up a lead in the third period in a loss to Notre Dame
on Dec. 3, 2010.

Skates ECAC Hockey Honors
Loren Barron and Eric Hartzell were honored with MLX Skates ECAC
Hockey Weekly Awards on Tuesday, Jan. 4. Barron was named the
Player of the Week after doubling his season point total with a
one-goal, five-goal series against Nebraska Omaha. Hartzell picked
up the Goalie of the Week award after turning back 97 of 102 shots
on goal by Nebraska Omaha to earn a pair of upset-wins against the
nationally-ranked Mavericks.

Monday's 1-1 tie with Princeton gives Quinnipiac 10 points in ECAC
Hockey play, good for fourth place in the league standings.

December To Remember
Jeremy Langlois led all Bobcat skaters in goals (4) and points (8),
as he also tallied four assists for the month. Langlois picked up
where he left off with Quinnipiac's only goal in its 1-1 tie with
Princeton on Monday, Jan. 3. For the year, Langlois has seven goals
and five assists for 12 points.
Harty Har Har Har
Eric Hartzell stopped 34 of Princeton's 35 shots on Monday, Jan. 3
to earn the tie against the nationally-ranked Tigers. Princeton
entered the game having scored multiple goals in eight consecutive
games before Hartzell allowed the single goal.
Getting Ahead Early
Quinnipiac is 9-1-1 this season in the 11 games in which it has
scored first.
