Men's Ice Hockey Loses To Ohio State, 4-0

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team lost to Ohio State, 4-0, in a non-conference match-up at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. Quinnipiac drops to 1-1-0 overall following a 2-1 win on Friday night, while Ohio State improves to 1-1-0 with the 4-0 shutout.

Cal Heeter stopped all 32 Quinnipiac shots-on-goals for his first shutout of the season while John Albert had a goal and two assists to lead Ohio State. Quinnipiac's Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ontario) had 24 saves for the Bobcats.

Chris Crane scored the Buckeyes first goal of the game on assists from Travic Statchuk and Kyle Reed. Albert then picked up his first assist of the season when he handled the puck above the right face-off circle on a two-on-one and flipped the puck with his back hand to Sergio Somma, who one-timed a shot past Clarke for his second marker of the year.

Albert picked up his first goal of the season, on the power play, when Danny Dries found the senior center streaking to the net and fed him just below the blue line in the Bobcats' defensive zone. Albert skated in on Clarke and blasted a shot over Clarke's left shoulder to give Ohio State a 3-0 lead. Devon Krogh added the Buckeyes' fourth goal of the game just under three minutes into the third period on assists to Albert and Peter Boyd.

Quinnipiac was 0-for-4 on the power play, a night after they converted on 1-of-3 opportunities, while Ohio State was 2-for-5.

Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. when they host Bentley College in a non-conference match-up at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
