Season Opener At The Bank
The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team will open the 2010-11 season against Ohio State University on Friday, Oct. 8 at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats and Buckeyes will also play on Saturday, Oct. 9. Both games are set for a 7 p.m. start.
All-Time Against Ohio State
Quinnipiac and Ohio State have met three times since the Bobcats joined the Division I ranks, most recently last season with a two-game series on the Buckeyes' home ice. Quinnipiac took both games from No. 17 Ohio State, 4-2 and 3-1, to take a 2-1 lead in the all-time series.
Time Out - Quinnipiac 7, St. Thomas 3
Quinnipiac defeated St. Thomas University, 7-3, in an exhibition game on Sunday, Oct. 3. Six different Bobcats scored in the win, led by sophomore defenseman Mike Dalhuisen (Nymegen, Holland) who scored twice. Junior captain Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan), Russell Goodman (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Spencer Heichman (Yorba Linda, Calif.) all scored in the win, while freshmen Conor Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) and John Dunbar (Calgary, Alb.) also scored. Jones was credited on an assist as well. Quinnipiac took advantage of the power play, scoring on four-of-nine penalties.
Zach Tolkinen (Lino Lakes, Minn.) had a pair of assists, while Kellen Jones (Montrose, British Columbia), Zack Currie (Victoria, British Columbia), Clay Harvey (Gull Lake, Saskatchewan), Yuri Bouharevich (Montreal, Quebec), D'Arcy Oakes (Shanty Bay, Ontario) and Bobby Tyson (The Woodlands, Texas) all picked up assists. In goal, Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) stopped seven of nine shots on goal over the games first 49:02 before giving way to senior Pat McGann (Evergreen, Ill.), who turned back two-of-three shots.
