Men's Ice Hockey Takes On Clarkson Today At 4 PM
University men's ice hockey team will take on Clarkson at 4 p.m. on
Saturday, Feb. 13 at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y. The Bobcats are
coming off a pair of shutouts, 2-0 against Colgate last Saturday,
Feb. 6, and 5-0 last night against St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena
in Canton, N.Y. Clarkson defeated Princeton last night, 4-3, to
snap an eight-game losing streak. Quinnipiac is 15-12-2 overall and
9-8-0 in ECAC Hockey while Clarkson improves to 6-20-3 overall and
2-13-2 in league play.
Five different Bobcats scored in last night's 5-0 win against St. Lawrence. Mike Dalhuisen and Clay Harvey both scored their first career goals, giving Quinnipiac 20 different goal-scorers this season. Greg Holt had the second three-assist game of his career, pushing his career numbers to seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points, all career-highs. In goal, Dan Clarke became the second Bobcat goalie in Quinnipiac's Division I history, along with Jamie Holden, to record back-to-back shutouts. The Bobcats are the only ECAC Hockey team to do so this season, and one of nine teams nationally to blank the opposition in consecutive games.
With the win, Quinnipiac extended its undefeated streak when leading after the second period to 46 games (42-0-4). The Bobcats last loss when leading after the second period, came in the 2006-07 ECAC Hockey Championship Game.
Quinnipiac currently sits in
sixth place in the ECAC Hockey standings with 18 points, trailing
St. Lawrence (19 points) for fifth place. Cornell, Yale and Union
sit in a three-way first-place tie with 24 points. RPI sits in
fourth place with 20 points, followed by St. Lawrence and
Quinnipiac. Colgate (17 pts.), Harvard (15), Princeton and Brown
(13), Dartmouth (9) and Clarkson (6) fill out the field.
