Hockey Opening Weekend
The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team will host Clarkson University on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and St. Lawrence on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. Quinnipiac comes into the game with a record of 4-1-0 overall. Clarkson is 3-4-0 overall while St. Lawrence is 4-2-1. Quinnipiac's two games against its North Country foes are the first of four-game homestand for the Bobcats. Quinnipiac will play Harvard on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:37 p.m. in a game that can be viewed in the New England Sports Network. The Bobcats will then host Dartmouth on Sunday, Nov. 14.

Scouting Clarkson University
Clarkson University comes to Hamden on Friday, Nov. 6 with a record
of 3-4-0 following back-to-back losses to Minnesota-Duluth last
weekend. The Golden Knights' previous other two losses came at
Michigan State to open the season, running Clarkson's record on the
road to 0-4-0 on the young season. Matt Beca is Clarkson's leading
goal-scorer, with five through seven games. Louke Oakley leads the
Golden Knights with one goal and eight assists for a team-high nine
points. Brandon Fazio and Nick Tremblay have both totaled one goal
and six assists for seven points. Paul Karpowich has logged the
majority of the minutes in net for Clarkson, starting five of the
Golden Knights' seven games. Karpowich is carrying a 3.62
goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.
All-Time Against Clarkson
Quinnipiac is 5-6-0 all-time against Clarkson, dating back to their
first meeting on Feb. 8, 2000. Quinnipiac is 3-2-0 all-time on
their home ice, including a 2-1-0 mark at the TD Bank Sports
Center. Clarkson was one of two teams that Quinnipiac swept last
season, along with Dartmouth College.
Scouting St. Lawrence University
St. Lawrence will play No. 13 Princeton University on Friday, Nov.
6 at 7 p.m before coming to the TD Bank Sports Center on Saturday,
Nov. 7 for an ECAC Hockey match-up against the Bobcats at 4 p.m.
The Sainst are 4-2-1 overall after winning their first game last
weekend against Sacred Heart, followed by a 3-3 tie in the second
game of the series. Saints' scoring leader Kyle Flanagan has scored
four goals and a team-high six assists for 10 points. Mike McKenzie
has also passed out six assists as well while also scoring two
goals. Robby Moss and Alex Petizian have split time in goal for St.
Lawrence. Moss 3-0-0 in three starts with a .930 save percentage
and a 2.18 goals-against average. Petizian is 0-2-1 with a .884
save percentage and a 3.32 goals against average.
All-Time Against St. Lawrence
Quinnipiac is 3-7-2 against St. Lawrence all-time, as the Saints
have taken the last three match-ups, and four of the last five
games. St. Lawrence knocked Quinnipiac out of the ECAC Hockey
Tournament Quarterfinals, winning a pair of 5-3 games, on March
13-14.
Breaker Breaker 1-9
Scott Zurevinski (#19) totaled two goals and two assists last
weekend against Robert Morris. Zurevinski, who scored one goal and
picked up an assist in each game of the two-game set, ranks among
the team leaders with four goals and three assists for seven
points.
Greg The Grinder
Senior Greg Holt enjoyed a solid weekend as the Bobcats split a
two-game series at Robert Morris last weekend. Holt and Scott
Zurevinski tied for the team lead with two goals and two assists
apiece. Holt had a goal and assist in each game.
Good Weekend Rook
Freshman Zach Davies turned in a pair of solid performances against
RMU. Davies picked up his first point of the season in Friday
night's win before scoring his first career goal, and assisting on
another, on Saturday night.
Gimme Five
Four different Bobcats scored their first goal of the season
against Robert Morris on Friday night, including: Brett Dickinson,
Greg Holt, Jean-Marc Beaudoin and Yuri Bouharevich. Zach Davies
scored his first career goal on the following night.
First Shutout Of The Year
Quinnipiac picked up its first shutout of the season with a 5-0 win
against Robert Morris on Friday night. A strong back-check and a
20-save performance from freshman Eric Hartzell, who improved to
2-0-0 for his career, in goal helped the QU cause.
Closing The Door
Last season, Quinnipiac was 16-0-0 in games in which it led after
the second period. In their last 37 games in that scenario, dating
back to last season and including last Friday's win against Robert
Morris, Quinnipiac is undefeated at 33-0-3 when playing with a lead
heading into the final frame. The Bobcats last loss,when leading
after the second period, came in the 2006-07 ECAC Hockey
Championship Game when Clarkson scored four third period goals to
come-from-behind and take the league crown.
