On Tuesday, Oct. 13 the men's ice hockey team was announced as the College Hockey News National Team of the Week as the first team to receive the honor from College Hockey News this season. It marks the second time that Quinnipiac has won the award in the last two seasons. Yesterday, Quinnipiac received 11 votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll. In the INCH Power Rankings, the Bobcats were picked as one of three "Bubble-licious" teams, along with New Hampshire and Michigan State.
Adding to the Bobcats' recognition, Quinnipiac senior Eric Lampe (Madison, Wisc.) earned ECAC Hockey Player of the Week honors while sophomore Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.) was named Goalie of the Week. Lampe led Quinnipiac with three goals and assist, scoring twice in the Bobcats 4-2 win on Thursday, Oct. 8 before following it up with a one-goal,one-assist performance in a 3-1 win against OSU, including the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal. Clarke stopped a career-best 44 shots in goal, including 24 in the first period before blanking the Buckeyes over the final two periods of play.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 17 when they host Bentley University at 4 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
