Men's Ice Hockey Hits The Ice Against Niagara At 7:30 PM
The Quinnipiac
University men's ice hockey team will face Niagara University in
the the second game of a two-game series on Saturday, Jan. 17 at
7:30 p.m. at Dwyer Arena in Lewiston, N.Y. The Bobcats defeated the
Purple Eagles on Friday night, 6-4, to improve to 12-7-2 overall
while Niagara dropped to 9-9-1 on the season. Live video from

On Friday night, Quinnipiac was powered by an impressive power play
that saw the Bobcats net four goals in five opportunities with a
man-advantage. Quinnipiac senior Bryan Leitch (Coquitlam, B.C.) had
four assists in the game, including three in the game's final seven
minutes. The NCAA Division I scoring leader and Hobey Baker
Memorial Award candidate, now has nine goals and 27 assists for 36
points, good for the national lead in assists, assists per game,
points and points per game. Leitch now has 50 goals and 96 assists
for his career. Leitch would join Brian Herbert '03 as the only
players in Quinnipiac's Division I history to score 50 goals and
assist on 100 more.
David Marshall (Buffalo, Minn.) extended his scoring streak to 14 games, tying former Quinnipiac All-American Reid Cashman for the longest stretch of games with a goal or an assist. Marshall tallied two goals and assisted on another in the Bobcats' win over Niagara on Friday night. He now has 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points for the year, and 63 goals and 45 assists for 108 points for his career. Marshall now has the third highest goals scored total since Quinnipiac made the leap to Division I. He trails Ben Nelson '08 with 66 goals for second and Chris Cerrella '01 with 67 goals for first.
Brandon Wong (Victoria, B.C.) played in his 100th career game against Niagara, making him the 39th player in Quinnipiac's history to reach the century mark. Teammate Chris Myers also played in his 100th game.
Wong had two assists in Quinnipiac's win over Niagara. Wong now has seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points for the year, as well as 47 goals and 51 assists for 98 career points. With two more points, Wong will be the 16th player in Quinnipiac's Division I history and the 29th player all-time to reach 100 points for his career.
Freshman Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) had a pair of goals in the Bobcats win over Niagara. The freshman forward now has seven goals and three assists for 10 points.
This season, Quinnipiac is 11-0-0 in games in which it is leading after the second period. In their last 32 games, dating back to last season, Quinnipiac is undefeated at 29-0-3 when playing with a lead heading into the final frame. The Bobcats last loss when leading after the second period came in the 2006-07 ECAC Hockey Championship Game when Clarkson scored four third period goals to come-from-behind and take the league crown.
