Men’s Basketball Visits West Woods Elementary School

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University men's basketball participated in the Athletic Department's Positive Play Initiative on Thursday morning, as members of the team visited children at West Woods Elementary School in Hamden.

Junior, sophomore and freshman student-athletes took a trip over to the school and spent recess with the youngsters. They interacted in various activities including kickball, soccer, four square and of course basketball.

"It's always fun interacting with elementary students around the area," said junior forward Justin Harris. "I think we enjoy their company as much as they enjoy ours."

Quinnipiac Athletics' Positive Play initiative is designed to encourage student-athlete involvement in the community. Quinnipiac is dedicated to the promotion and development of service, service learning, experiential learning, and civic engagement programs and initiatives that involve students in the local community and challenge them to critically examine the role their service plays in cultivating personal development and social change.

The Bobcats recently concluded the 2013-14 season in the Postseason Tournament (CIT). It was the team's fourth national postseason tournament bid in the last five years. Quinnipiac also eclipsed the 20-win plateau for the third time since 2009.
