NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce will host its fifth annual Sports Council "Courtside Chat" Luncheon on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Carmen Anthony's. All action gets underway at 12 p.m. in New Haven's downtown steakhouse.
The event will feature a panel discussion with all 10 area men's and women's basketball coaches. Presenters include Mitch Oliver and JR Frenette (Albertus Magnus College), Tom Moore and Tricia Fabbri (Quinnipiac University), Michael Donnelly and Meghan Brown (Southern Connecticut State University), Ted Hotaling and Ty Grace (University of New Haven), and James Jones and Chris Gobrecht (Yale University).
Veteran broadcaster, Steve Lenox will serve as the event moderator. Lenox has an extensive background in radio and television play-by-play as well as hosting national sports talk shows and pre and post-game shows for several organizations. Lenox currently works with Major League Baseball Advanced Media, hosting an internet-based show called MLB.COM Full Count on Yahoo Sports.

Both teams will begin their seasons in the second weekend of November. The women's team plays first as the Bobcats are one of 16 teams in the 2013 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Quinnipiac will host North Carolina A&T in the opening round of the invitation-only tournament on Friday, November 8, 2013. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center.
The men's basketball team's season opens at the Connecticut 6 Classic on Saturday, November 9 against Hartford. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard.
