HAMDEN, Conn. – Head coach Tom Moore picked up his 100th career win against CCSU in front of a large crowd at the TD Bank Sports Center on Thursday night. Moore (100-77) reached the milestone faster than any QU Division I men's basketball coach and become the second fastest in program history. The milestone received quite a bit of attention around the state's media outlets, which were released in this morning's newspapers.
Moore's 100th win was the second fastest (Mike Rice – LIU Brooklyn) among NEC coaches since Quinnipiac joined the conference back in 1998. Moore stands alone at the top among active NEC coaches fastest to 100 wins at the Division I level.
In addition, prior to the 7:30 p.m. tip-off, Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun was recognized for his tremendous success and leadership in bringing the entire state of Connecticut the highest level of recognition and success in Division I men's basketball. Quinnipiac and Central Connecticut honored Coach Calhoun in a pre-game ceremony with a donation to benefit the Jim and Pat Calhoun Cardiology Center. At the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center, a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, hypertension specialists and vascular surgeons offers top quality care to diagnose and treat diseases of the heart and blood vessels – the most prevalent diseases among American men and women.
The Bobcats will wrap up the fourth week of NEC play on Saturday afternoon against Fairleigh Dickinson. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. with all the action televised live on MSG and FCS.
