HAMDEN, Conn. – Freshman guard Kendrick Ray (Middletown, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University men's basketball team was recently named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for his performance against Hartford on Saturday night. Ray was fantastic in his collegiate debut and played a large role in the Bobcats' season-opening win against the America East foe.
Ray recorded eight points in the Bobcats' 65-61 win over Hartford at the Connecticut 6 Classic. He went 3-for-7 from the field and chipped in two points from the charity stripe in his first career game. The 6-3 guard capped off the game with a layup with just 11 seconds remaining, sealing the final score. The Middletown, N.Y. native also added one assist and one rebound in 23 minutes of action off the bench.
Quinnipiac endures a quick turnaround with its home-opener tonight, Monday, November 12, at the TD Bank Sports Center. Prior to the 7 p.m. tilt against American, the men's basketball program will host a clothing drive for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. All fans who donate will receive two complementary tickets to the Bobcats' home game against Maine on December 29.
