Men's Basketball Adds Depth To Backcourt; Welcome Three More To 2012-13 Roster
Quinnipiac University Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tom Moore has announced three additional signings that will join the Bobcats’ roster for the 2012-13 campaign. Guards Tariq Carey (Union, N.J.), Shaquille Shannon (Philadelphia, Pa.) and James Ford (Hopewell, Va.) will join the Bobcats’ quest for their first trip to the NCAA Tournament next season.

Former Quinnipiac University men’s basketball standout James Feldeine (New York, N.Y.) has extended his stay over in Spain, as the 6-foot-4 guard has signed a new contract with Club Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. Feldeine enjoyed two seasons with Leche Rio Breogan Lugo, but announced on Monday, May 21, 2012 that he will wear new colors for the next three years.

Quinnipiac University Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach Eric Eaton has been selected to attend the 2012 Villa 7 Consortium, presented by Virginia Commonwealth University and Nike on May 9-10, 2012. Held at the Nike Campus in Beaverton, Ore., and on VCU's campus in Richmond, Virginia, Villa 7 is a partnership between Virginia Commonwealth University's Center for Sport Leadership, VCU Athletics and Nike to bring together university athletic directors and the country’s elite assistant basketball coaches in an effort to prepare the next generation of college basketball leaders.

Senior James Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) finished with a team-high 16 points on Wednesday night, but the Quinnipiac University men's basketball team was eliminated from the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) with a 74-63 loss to Pennsylvania at The Palestra. The Bobcats conclude the 2011-12 campaign with an overall record of 18-13 and their third consecutive national postseason tournament appearance.

Johnson, Azotam Earn NABC Division I All-District 18 Second Team Honors
Quinnipiac University senior men's basketball guard James Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Ike Azotam (Boston, Mass.) have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 18 Second Team, announced on Wednesday by the coaches of the association. Johnson takes the honor for the second straight year, while the award is the first for Azotam. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 240 student-athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the NABC Coaches’ Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Tuesday, March 20.

The Quinnipiac University men’s basketball team (18-13, 10-8 NEC) travels Philly to take on Pennsylvania in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) First Round on Wednesday night. The second meeting between the two schools will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. with all the action taking place at the Cathedral of College Basketball, The Palestra. QU fell to LIU Brooklyn in the Northeast Conference Semifinals, while the Quakers were defeated in their regular-season finale to Princeton. This will be the Bobcats third national postseason appearance.
