Men's Basketball To Raise Money For Hoops For Heart Health
HAMDEN,
Conn. - The Quinnipiac University men's basketball team has been
raising money and awareness this season for Hoops for Heart Health,
a non-profit organization that was started by NBA forward Ryan
Gomes, to address the problem of sudden cardiac arrest in high
school, college and professional sports. Including the Dec. 11 game
against the University of Rhode Island, a table will be set up in
the lobby of the TD Bank Sports Center at all Saturday home games
throughout the season to collect donations that will benefit the
organization.
The team has
established a goal of raising enough money to purchase a
defibrillator to be placed in a local school. The topic hits close
to home with the team, as team manager Mike Papale collapsed during
a basketball game in high school, with a defibrillator saving his
life.
The Bobcats
will also raffle a basketball signed by the entire team during the
Dec. 11 game against Rhode Island, to benefit Hoops for Heart
Health.
