Deontay Twyman (Olney, Md.) had 13 points to run his team-leading scoring average to 14.0 points per game for the trip. Raheem May-Thompson (London, England) added 12 points tonight and averaged 13.8 points per game. Dave Johnson (Jackson, N.J.) had 11 points and eight assists tonight and averaged 9.0 points and 7.5 assists per game on the trip. William Harrison (Bronx, N.Y.) rounded out the Bobcats' six double-figure scorers with 10 points tonight.
A one-point game after 20 minutes at the halftime break, the Bobcats used a three-pointer from Harrison, followed by two trifectas from Twyman as part of a 12-1 run early in the third quarter to open a 14-point advantage. Cergy drew to within seven points by the end of the third quarter, but would get no closer. The Bobcats' lead steadily grew to as many as 21 points in the waning moments of the fourth quarter.
For the game, the Bobcats outshot Cergy, 44.2 percent (34-77) to 42.2 percent (19-45) from the floor. Cergy took the advantage from long distance, 35.7 percent (5-14) to 34.8 percent (8-23), as well as from the free-throw line, 62.8 percent (27-43) to 46.7 percent (14-30). Of the Bobcats' 64 rebounds, 32 each came on the offensive and defensive boards.
Quinnipiac will host Bobcat Madness on Friday, Oct. 22, before opening the 2010-11 season at the second annual Connecticut 6 Classic, to be played at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Nov. 13. The Bobcats will play local rival Yale at 8 p.m.
