HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University junior forward Justin Rutty (Newburgh, N.Y.) has been named the Connecticut 6 Player of the Week after averaging 16.5 points and 12.5 rebounds as the Bobcats split a pair of Northeast Conference road games this past week. Rutty compiled his Quinnipiac Division I record 20th and 21st career double-doubles at Wagner and Mount St. Mary's, respectively.
Rutty scored 15 points and added 10 rebounds in the Bobcats' 66-57 win at Wagner on Thursday, before upping his production on Saturday to 18 points and 15 rebounds as Mount St. Mary's defeated Quinnipiac, 61-56.
For the season, Rutty is averaging 14.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. His rebounding average is currently 15th in the nation, while his 4.4 offensive rebounds per game ranks sixth. Rutty currently stands just 45 points shy of 1,000 career points.
