James Feldeine Named NEC Player of the Week

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University men's basketball junior wing James Feldeine (New York, N.Y.) has been named the Choice Hotels/Northeast Conference Player of the Week, the league office today announced. Feldeine recorded his second double-double of the year and third of his career with 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Bobcats remained unbeaten in NEC play with a 71-63 victory, Saturday night at Wagner. He also added four assists. The award is the first of Feldeine's career.

Feldeine shot 53.8 percent (7-13) from the floor. He scored 15 of his 19 points in the first half, including the Bobcats' first eight points, to help Quinnipiac to a four-point first-half lead. The Bobcats (5-3 overall, 2-0 NEC) remained unbeaten in league play through two games for just the third time in the 11-year Division I history of the program, including twice in Head Coach Tom Moore's two seasons at the helm.

For the season, Feldeine is averaging 16.6 points (4th-NEC) and 7.1 rebounds (9th-NEC), while shooting 46.5 percent (13th-NEC) from the floor and 75.0 percent (11th-NEC) from the free-throw line. His 5.13 defensive rebounds per game rank seventh in the league and 2.0 offensive boards per game are tied for 13th. He's done it all in 31.75 minutes per game, 17th-most in the conference.

The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, when they travel to Hanover, N.H., to take on Dartmouth. Opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Leede Arena.
